Craig Smith began practicing yoga in the late 1990s to assist in the treatment of chronic back and knee conditions, an unfocused mind and a lack of clear direction in life. Craig found the answers for all of these and much more in the practice of yoga.
Craig realised his passion was in helping people to be more aware of their bodies’ natural abilities and so commenced Teacher Training with Yoga in Daily Life in 2001. He began teaching yoga in Adelaide in 2002 and completed the Teacher Training certificate in 2003.
Craig Smith holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy (RMT) with more than 15 years experience in working with the body. The combined knowledge of anatomy and physiology and the experience he has gained as a RMT provides Craig with a holistic teaching style of Hatha Yoga that incorporates a strong focus towards maintaining safety, integrity and foundation in the practice of asana (postures), Pranayam (breathing exercises), Yoga Nidra (active relaxation), Hatha Yoga Kriyas (cleansing and purifying techniques) and Meditation.
Craig has been lucky enough to Study a 3 year Post Graduate Diploma of Yoga Therapy under the expert guidance of Dr N Chandrasekaran from The Yoga Vaidya Sala in Chennai, India. The ongoing study of Yoga Therapy continues to deepen his knowledge of the authentic practices and techniques as prescribed from Patanjalis’ Yoga Sutras and Krishnamacharya’s Viniyoga tradition in the treatment of diseases and conditions of the human constitution.
