meditation teacher training

Here at YIMI we offer world class Meditation Teacher Training. Our teachers have years of experience, practice and training under their belt and are well equipped to offer you the guidance needed to share and undertake the ancient practice of meditation. Our teacher training and short courses cover a range of meditation techniques and styles to ensure there is something to resonate with every individual.
Meditation is the most rewarding and life changing practice. For many who study and practice the art of meditation it becomes a daily practice that nurtures them throughout their whole lives. Meditation offers benefits of mind shaped on the values of compassion, mindfulness and contentment. It cultivates unshakable inner peace.

People who suffer with stress, anxiety, pain, depression and ill health find powerful relief through meditation.  The inflammatory response is reduced, the immune response is heightened, and mindfulness meditation is closely on par with antidepressants for preventing major relapse of depression.

Reputable studies also report major epigenetic changes in just 8 hours of meditation per day. This has huge public health implications for us all and the next generation.  It also reduces the aging stress on the body, by lengthening the telomeres – the ends of chromosomes. This begins to reverse the aging process on a cellular level.

Whether you do this course for yourself or to teach others, it is a highly valuable practice to live by and share with others. Meditation is the innovative lifestyle medicine of the 21st century.

“A person who has the patience to allow the mind to go through its antics while remaining firmly planted, will experience something. That “something” is different for each individual, but it will be, in some way or another, a reawakening of the self. With this new awareness comes inner change, then outer change.”

~Shakti Parwha Kaur

Kundalini Meditation therapy offers a range of exquisite and various techniques for creating lasting mental and physical change. Various kriyas and meditations will be passed on to you as taught as by Yogi Bhajan to attend to specific therapeutic applications of body, mind and heart. Through the practice of kundalini meditation as a therapy you will be able to offer your self and your students a steadier frame of mind and a valuable holistic yogic framework for well being, including increased vitality and improved mental and physical health.

Creating virtuous life cycles through the scientific application of angles in asana and kriyas for meditation is part of the kundalini experience. You will explore the subtle body teachings of nadi, chakra and prana to effect kundalini. You will learn how to apply and teach sound (naad), bodily gestures (mudra), breathing techniques (pranayama), eye gaze (dristhi) and mental focus (dharana) to create long lasting personal transformation.

You will also learn the ethical principles of the therapist and transference as it applies in kundalini yoga.  A deeper understanding of the confidence and leadership skills that the yoga therapist requires will be imparted. You will consider the role of raising your own consciousness as a yoga therapist and teacher in seeing transformational change occur in your students.

“Meditation is a process…At any time which is peaceful (the best is the early morning time, before the dawn), you’ll be surprised that in a couple of minutes a lot of thoughts will start coming to you—the X-rated thoughts, the ugly, angry thoughts. If you let those thoughts pass by, this is meditation. All those thoughts that can pass at that moment of your life can never enter your subconscious mind, and they will not bother you again. This procedure of cleansing the mind is called meditation…It takes about three minutes to get those kinds of thoughts. And sometimes they continue to bug you for about half an hour. But, if you physically don’t move, the mind becomes still. That is the foundation, or the beginning of the meditative mind. Once your mind starts becoming still and not having any thoughts, you will feel cozy, and that coziness cannot be described even by me. All I can tell you is that it is very comfortable, it is very cozy, and you will want to do it again and again. But in the beginning you cannot do it for a long time. Gradually, as you develop that coziness, this thought-hitting process becomes shorter and shorter.”

~Yogi Bhajan

Meditation is the most functional integrative medicine of the 21st century. Pioneering evidence supports that our thoughts create a footprint on the brain and meditation can shape the brain in a positive way. From neuroplasticity to brain epigenetics, meditation has a strong footing in the new wave of integrative lifestyle medicine.

Explore how you can integrate this cutting edge science and meditative awareness into your life, your professional practice and improve your interpersonal relationships.

For centuries eastern tradition prevailed with an in depth understanding of the “science of the mind”, with practice that used this knowledge in holistic medicine for well being.  As western culture progresses, so too does our understanding of integrative medicine and the capacity for inherent change through practices such as meditation.

Within weeks of starting a mindfulness and/or compassionate meditation practice, major neuro plastic changes in the brain can be observed.  Neuroscience is the study of the biological and evolutionary mechanisms of the brain in relation to automatic body reactivity.  This science is vital in understanding the value of meditation and why, when clients come to practice, your presence, attunement, and resonance has the power to change clients from reactive states to mindful and responsive traits.

What you will learn

  • Why the integration of body and mind into full presence is the basis of a balanced, strong, and resilient nervous system.
  • Why grey matter and cortical thickness changes are important, and how understanding the following neurobiological areas can assist your clientele.
  • Anterior Cingulate Cortex: associated with such functions as self-regulatory processes, including the ability to monitor attention conflicts, and allow for more cognitive flexibility.
  • Prefrontal Cortex: primarily responsible for executive functioning such as planning, problem solving, and emotion regulation.
  • Hippocampus: The hippocampus is the part of the limbic system that governs learning and memory, and is extraordinarily susceptible to stress and stress-related disorders like depression or PTSD.
  • Amygdala: The brain’s “fight or flight” centre and the seat of our fearful and anxious emotions. Mindfulness practice decreases the amygdala in brain cell volume and cultivates a state whereby we are less reactive.

This educational meditation teacher training program is conducted in a silent retreat format for experiential learning purposes, with a retreat and class format that can be passed on to your students or used at home for your own benefit. The teacher will guide and deliver content at appropriate interval times, as well as during practice. This course has been hailed as “life changing” by students who have completed it in previous years. It will promote your brain health and the health of others for years to come.

YOGA NIDRA ONLINE TEACHER TRAINING

Yoga Nidra is such effective technique, not only for physical or mental relaxation but also for preparing the mind for the higher yogic disciplines. Yoga Nidra literally means Yogic Sleep, and it is a state of conscious deep sleep, a dynamic sleep that takes place between the awakened state and the sleep state.

Yoga Nidra is now an evidence-based practice. The practice has proven benefits for people undergoing PTSD, depression, insomnia, hostility, psychosomatic diseases, chronic pain, anxiety, stress-related disorders and chemical dependency as well as for the establishment of joy, resilience and a sense of well-being in daily life.

Research further shows that the brain experiences the same activity during a 30 minute Yoga Nidra practice as about 4 hours of sleep. If we regularly remove our stress by Yoga Nidra, we will not only sleep better, but also our sleep will be much more restorative. Through this form of relaxation we prepare our system to be in a state of perfect receptivity.
